How to Compare FACE SHIELDs
How to compare FACE SHIELDS
How to Compare quasi-shield to a Face Shield?
There are many pseudo-shields coming on the market right now from low cost jurisdictions. It is hard to resist a $5 job when there are $25 and $30 units out there.
So what is the difference? Many of the low cost units typically cost 15c to 28c to make. The mold tolerance are non-existent and half may fit and half will not. Quality control costs money, and at that price, no one paid for QC. This can be considered a single use shield. It cannot be sterilized by any form. One common household way to sterilize a face shield is by putting it into an oven at 70 Celsius for 20 minutes.
When you buy a face shield ask the following:
- How do you sterilize it?, Can it be sterilized?
- Can I put it into to my oven at 70 to 75 C to sterilize from pathogens?
- Are there replacement visors.
- Make sure it does not have
- How many uses can we get out of it?
Comparing a $5 pseudo-shield to a $25 face shield is like comparing ants to dogs and calling both house pets. You would not go barefoot into the factory and complain that it is dirtying your feet.
Ultimately you get what you pay for!
